The ADA Forsyth Institute has won gold in the 22nd annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards.

Presented by MassEcon — Massachusetts’ private sector partner in promoting business growth in the state — the awards recognize 13 companies for their contributions to the state economy.

MassEcon selected the companies based on job growth, facility expansion and investment, and community involvement since Jan. 1, 2025, according to a MassEcon news release announcing the winners. They were chosen following site visits, interviews with regional teams of judges and one-minute “pitches” at a finalists reception in February.

The winners will be honored at a ceremony April 16 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

ADA Forsyth moved to Somerville, Massachusetts, in May 2025, bringing more than $100 million in research grant funding and a growing workforce, according to the institute. The state-of-the-art facility has significantly expanded ADA Forsyth’s clinical and research capacity.

Besides serving as the authoritative testing site for the ADA Seal of Acceptance program, ADA Forsyth performs clinical evaluation and preclinical testing of other products. It also offers incubator space and core equipment facilities that help local companies access specialized infrastructure, reduce barriers to innovation and scale more quickly.

“All of us at the ADA Forsyth Institute are incredibly proud to receive this recognition,” said Wenyuan Shi, Ph.D., CEO of ADA Forsyth. “For over a century, ADA Forsyth has been known as a ‘hidden gem’ in the Boston area, but this award puts us in the spotlight. Our move to Somerville last year allows our hardworking researchers better opportunities to break new ground in the study of oral health, informing the future of dentistry and promoting stronger outcomes for patients. We are using the most advanced technology in our labs and working with partners around the world to develop incredible new technologies to explore, diagnose and treat oral diseases. Our community programs continue to provide excellent educational experiences, crucial care in underserved communities and increased access to dental care.”
